Another Backcountry Weekend
Last weekend was the annual henry Coe Backcountry Weekend, the 4th consecutive year for Antony and I. Like every other year, we set our sights high and came home sore and exhausted, dragging our sorry rears back to the truck at the end of the weekend…
The previous years we went in the TJ, but this time we used Antony’s Taco. No particular reason, but it’s easy to just chuck the bikes in the back rather than having to get them on and off the hitch carrier on the Jeep.
The daily high temperatures were forecast at about 81F, but we got 90F on Sunday at least. Fortunately we still had water sources available via many of the streams, and we were able to filter more water as needed. In fact, we used probably twice as much water on Sunday as we had anticipated, due to the overall uphill climb back and the unseasonably hot weather.
It was another tough but fun year! Next year we’ve vowed – yet again – to take it easier.
That’s all I have time for now. I plan to do another post on how my new gear performed on this trip, sometime soon. Oh yeah, here’s the gallery of pictures we took on the trip. Ciao!
