Offroad and on the Trails

Oregon, 2010: Gallery #2

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

Well, the first gallery may have covered four days of our trip, but the new gallery covers just one! Our much-overdue visit to the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville really gave my camera a workout. (“Cameras” really, since in the absence of my wide-angle variable lens for my Canon dSLR, I relied on my iPhone 4 to get a few of the wider shots.)

The museum was pretty amazing. It’s pretty much a boy’s fantasy gone mad, a place filled with tanks and spacecraft and fighter jets and bombers and cowboy guns. I think all its missing are a T-Rex and Batman.

This gallery only covers the museum (plus a couple of photos from the drive over), and it certainly doesn’t come close to showing everything on display there, yet it’s much bigger than the previous trip gallery.

If such things interest you, even remotely, then this place should be a “must visit” any time you find yourself in the area. And here’s a tip: there’s a small cafe in the aviation building, but hold out for the larger one in the space museum building.

The next gallery will be back to more “normal” trip coverage, if any of our trips can be described as normal…
