Offroad and on the Trails

This, That, and the Other Thing

"In a tunnel somewhere..."

In a tunnel somewhere...

I figured I needed to write this catch-all post to get caught up on a few things that have been going on lately. I was tempted to put each item in its own post, just for the purpose of making more posts, but I don’t want to start down that dark path. There are some blogs out there I’d enjoy a lot more if they’d drop the amateur self-promotion…

Anyway, the first thing I wanted to mention is that I’m going back to some of my old gallery pages and updating them. This is not especially interesting to me (or probably most other people) but it really needed to be done.

The first one updated was the Hollister Hills II gallery from back in 2003. It had been created using small images, then converted to a page of even smaller (thumbnail-sized) images, and I hated it. Now the images are a nice 1024 x 768 size, which has become the new standard for my galleries. So while the content may be old, it’s about twice as big as it ever had been. Progress!

Next up, I wanted to mention that I’ve added a couple of new short hikes to the trail site I used to use (migrated to Rambler in 2016.) You can find them all on my profile page at Ramblr if you’re interested.

This weekend I worked an evidence search with my SAR team. I provided GPS support for that mission, in addition to regular grunt work. I spent most of the day standing in a stream, using a metal detector, and digging holes. My tall rubber boots kept my feet dry, but they were painfully sore by the time we were done. Boy, was I extremely tired after that too.

Well, I think that’s it for now. I’m hoping to do some more day trips, and another backpacking trip before the season ends, but we’ll see. Fingers crossed! 😀
