Texas!
I spent most of last week in Texas. Austin, to be exact. I was pretty excited to be able to see Austin in person, because I’d heard some good things about it. A college town, Austin has a reputation of being more colorful and edgy than the rest of the state, an island of blue among the red as some say.
I never managed to Austin’s gravitational pull. I had identified several activities outside of town: a short 5-mile hike; dinner at the original Salt Lick BBQ place; and a visit to the site of the future Formula One circuit. All these options were abandoned as eating up far too much time for just one attraction.
Four days is definitely not enough time to get more than a sample of Austin. I did my best to see as much as I could, and I flew out on Friday with a blur of many sights, tastes, and smells that swirled in my head for days after.
