La Gloria Road
La Gloria Road (shown on some maps as simply Gloria Road) runs between the town of Gonzales and Highway 25 to the east, just north of Pinnacles. The graded dirt portion of the road – the part that interested me the most – is a bit over eleven miles long. The west part of the dirt road ascends steeply, climbing 1,600′ before I’d gone four miles. From there it begins an overall gentle downhill until you reach Highway 25
Since it was August, it was naturally very dry, and an easy drive not requiring four wheel drive or high clearance. I imagine that the road has a somewhat different personality during the rainy season though.

I think your photo of an old farm wagon is actually a manure spreader.

But in all seriousness, I could only guess what it might be, so I’m happy to defer to anyone that knows better. I had thought that perhaps the big gear alongside the one wheel may have been attached to a conveyor belt or something. Makes a perfect ranch decoration now, in any case.
