Offroad and on the Trails

So trendy…

I’m writing this blog post from my favorite local coffee shop, since the power has been out at out house for the last five hours thanks to the big storm. Hopefully it will be restored before dinner, or I’ll be warming up the leftover Egyptian red lentil soup I made last night on my Coleman stove.

Well, that’s not so bad really. I have plenty of cooking gear for camping and backpacking and such, with several options including gas cannisters and even good old gasoline. We have several lighting options as well, although none are as good as the regular lights. Entertainment will mostly be reading (current book: “Lois on the Loose”) if the power is off past 8pm, which again is hardly tragic.

There are trees and branches down all over in the area, and flooded streets. We’re inside a reasonably large area that is without power, although we can drive a short while and get to places (like here) that still do have power.

Exciting weather, which is something we don’t get much of here. We usually have to drive to Oregon to see this kind of wind and rain.

Until the power is back, I can’t work on my new gallery and blog post for my Hollister Hills visit on January 1, but it won’t take long to complete once the juice is on.
