Offroad and on the Trails

"Fifi Cahoots?"

Well, that was Sam’s nickname for this trail, and it’s stuck. I like it.

I’ve had several alternative names for different places or trails. For example, there is a small Santa Clara county park called Chictactac-Adams. I always think of it as Chicklet-Tic-tac-Adams. (Think of it: an entire park devoted to small candies!)

The real name was the Fifield-Cahill Ridge Trail, which was part of the greater Bay Area Ridge Trail or BART. It was a docent-led, permit-only, 13-mile hike along the ridge to the west of Crystal Springs reservoir.

It was a really fun hike, in no small part due to the fact that I hiked it with a great group of fellow hikers. We had a blast, and the fun continued during the post-hike dinner and beer fest. Sore feet and smiling faces are one of my favorite combinations!

I’m not going to spend a lot of time writing about the hike here, partly because there’s already been much written about it. It almost seemed as if our group practically took over EveryTrail for a bit with our trip reports there. Here are the links to those reports:

To further add to the vast quantity of hike documentation, I have added a hike gallery here on my site, which includes all of the photos I added to my EveryTrail trip, and many more. Of course, the images are bigger here too. I’ve opted not to caption the images this time.

I’ve not forgotten that I still need to upload my final Oregon trip gallery, but I’ve been holding back on that for personal reasons. I’ve also been very busy lately, writing some articles for another website and having just returned to my old job at ShoreTel today.

If I don’t update this blog before the 25th, I want to wish everyone a very merry and insanely joyous Christmas! Even in difficult times, there are things to be thankful for.
