Combined with the other waypoints in my GPS, these PQs bring my total number of waypoints up to around the 1,000-waypoint limit of my GPS. Sometimes the total is over the limit, and even when it's not it is a good idea to keep some number of waypoints free for use in the field.

This is where the graphical nature of MapSource is very useful. I can delete a lot of caches from just three or four densely-packed parks that I don't visit during a typical week and make a lot of room. In the example above, I've used the area selection tool to draw a box around Grant Ranch and quickly highlight more than thirty caches for deletion. Note that I've then opted to retain the two right along the road on the west side, just in case I happen to drive through the area.

Naturally, if I was planning to go hiking in Grant (a nice park), I could add these back in or simply not delete these caches in the first place.

By trimming these waypoints, I reduce my total waypoints in the GPS from about a thousand down to closer to 800.
