The trip started off, as they often seem to these days, with something weird happening.

This time it was one of the seat motors in andy's Disco, which had gotten stuck with the seat fully back, which was too far for even Andy (who is kinda tall) when offroad. This led to thirty minutes of battling with the spirit of Lucas, lord of darkness, who plagued English vehicles.

First we discovered and checked no fewer than 5 fuses involved in the seat, some well hidden under the seat between wiring connectors and pretty much inaccessible to human beings. At this point - and I swear I'm not making this up - Andy resorted to whacking the offending motor with the back of a hatchet. I found this amusing, but otherwise it did no good.

We had almost given up on the thing when Andy sat in the seat and forcefully rocked it forward and backward, at which point something in there obviously became unstuck and it all worked again. Finally, we could get going.
