We didn't see any signs prohibiting it, I'd read of other people driving on the beach, and there were other tires tracks in the sand... So off we went for a quick spin! I drove right out to the water's edge and down the beach a bit before circling back, keeping up my momentum so we didn't bog down in the sand. Shades of the Mojave River bed!

Later I heard from someone that the rangers will ticket you for driving on the beach. I haven't confirmed that but I don't have any reason to disbelieve him. If you want to drive on the beach, you may want to research or call before you do so. Don't blame me if you get a ticket - or get stuck!
