Antony and I returned to the Henry Coe Backcountry Weekend for the 4th consecutive year.
Each year we'd done things a little differently. The first year, 2005, we mountain-biked and geocached, just on Saturday. We visited Jackrabbit Lake, Paradise Lake, and a short distance up Rooster Comb Trail.
In 2006 we camped at Orestimba Corral, and hiked to Mississippi Lake and back. On Sunday, we made the trek to the top of Mustang Peak.
For 2007, we backpacked for the first time. We camped at Mississippi Lake and made a day trip up to Bear Mountain, although our lack of water and the very high temperatures forced us back prior to making the peak.
This year, we opted to explore a new part of the park, the northeast corner. We rode our mountain bikes as far as we could and then stashed them, then hiked the rest of the way to Robison Creek where we camped overnight.
Like last year, all of the photos starting with "img_" were taken by me, and the ones starting with "dsc_" were taken by Antony Wilson.
If you're curious, here's a screeen capture of our 12-mile track for Sunday as shown in MapSource Topo 2008.
