Whoa! A warp in space and time perhaps? Suddenly we're at Wilder Ranch on the California coast on the north/west side of Santa Cruz. I'm here for a fast hike to the top of that hill on the left, about a four-mile roundtrip.

My goal was one of 50sumtin's geocaches that I'd been meaning to visit for a long time, and the associated benchmark. It seemed very fitting to make this hike before the memorial event at 5pm. 50sumtin (Bud) was a popular local geocacher and about the nicest guy you'd ever meet. Sadly, he suddenly passed away a year ago. The local geocachers donated the money to purchase a memorial bench in this park in his memory.
