Our Labor Day holiday weekend started a day early, which gave us the opportunity to backpack at Point Reyes National Seashore before the holiday crowds descended on the area like a thick swarm of touristy locusts.
We started off with a nice lunch at the Station House Cafe in Point Reyes Station, then drove into the park to pick up our backcountry permit at the large visitors station. Permit obtained, we drove to the trailhead and off we went, on the first backpacking trip for both Allison and Carrie.
On the drive home we stopped at Moylan's Brewery for lunch before making the drive back to San Jose. There was a lot of fog - and even more traffic - at the Golden Gate Bridge, but luckily both cleared up nicely after the toll plaza.
A wonderful time was had by all!
The GPS track and waypoints for the backpack can be found on EveryTrail.
