Aha! Anthony spots a rock cairn along one of the paths. We'd read about these in Dennis Casebier's canonical Mojave Road Guide. The cairns here appeared between the marked route in the GPX file I'd downloaded from the Mojave Road website, and the GPX track I'd downloaded from another site of someone who'd driven it. The cairns were perfect here and allowed us to select the proper route from an endless intersection of tracks & dead ends.
