Before we reached Eugene, I noticed a large (about 5 miles across) body of water on the GPS, that we'd never seen before. It turned out to be the unusual Fern Ridge Lake. First off, there didn't actually seem to be a ridge anywhere near the lake, which made sense since you rarely encounter a large ridetop lake. Also, the laked looked more like a wetlands, at least along the southern side.
