In March 2007 I organized the first two offroading trips open to all members of the Geocachers of the Bay Area, or GBA. Since it was open to all, including people who didn't have any real offroading experience, I selected very easy drives, but still in interesting locations. In each case we had my friend Antony along as designated tail-end Charlie, with me leading the group, to hopefully avoid any issues. I scouted the routes beforehand and selected the dates to add to the mitigation, and we limited the number of vehicles that could attend to a conservative total. In both cases we filled up all the available slots.

Both trips were a lot of fun. Geocachers are, with few exceptions, a great group of people to bring on trips like these. I'm looking forward to putting together more of these.

In this gallery, all of the images starting with "img_" were taken by me, and the ones starting with "dsc_" were taken by Antony Wilson. gba_offroad_ii__1_.jpg was taken by Rick Schulze, and Tom McFall took p1030424.jpg.
