We woke up early on the last day of our 2013 Oregon road trip so that we could do this drive. It added probably two hours to an already very long driving day but it was definitely worth it. I'd been wanting to drive through this area for a few years now.

An unusually dry winter enabled us to make this drive at the end of December, but most years I think there would be way too much snow to drive these roads. As it was, we were able to cruise through with no difficulty.
