Here's the new Odyssey 1500 in the original/primary battery tray. New heavy-duty "mil spec" terminals have been installed as well. These are really nice as the accessory bolts are separate from the clamping bolts, and are larger as well. Behind the battery tray on the far right are relays for the roof lights.

So here's what I think happened to the old battery. See how the battery terminals on the Odyssey batteries are very forward on the top? Well, they're so far forward that the positive terminal on the battery was rubbing against the factory hold-down bar you see there. With the positive terminal grounding, it drained the battery over time when it sat for a while.

I then charged up the battery with my nice battery charger, which unfortunately wasn't designed to work with AGM batteries. Eventually these cycles of draining and improper charging killed the old battery.

The hold-down has now been recessed around the positive terminal, and insulated as well to be extra cautious. I also have a new AGM-compatible battery charger.
